Story Time!

Sometimes on Thursdays at 11:00 AM I take Makenna over to the library for story time. It is so dang cute! She loves it! I love it! They sing songs, read stories and color pictures! Makenna just goes and sits down on the rug that they have, and joins in. It is so fun. Sometimes we go up to the little water park afterwards depending. Thursdays is mainly for toddlers, but there are older kids. It is free and cool in there, so it will be a great thing for the summer if anyone gets bored! Maybe we'll see you there. If anyone wants to go for a play date, let me know! It would be fun. Here are the weekly times if anyone really cares.

Monday 11:00 - Sunshine Kids Story time (I don't have a clue what that is)
Tuesday 10:00
Tuesday 11:00 - Open Story Time (all ages)
Wednesday 10:00, 11:00 & 2:00
Thursday 10:00 & 11:00 - Toddler Time
Friday 10:00 & 11:00

Tradework

I walked in the house the other night and couldn't find Brent anywhere. I walked into our bathroom and this is what I saw: Brent cleaning our 2'x2' shower. That's right. He was cleaning it (or sucking up). Just so you know, what you see in the picture is our whole shower! I can barely fit into it comfortably when I am pregnant! We were even the ones that built our house and we chose to have it that small. What in the H were we thinking?! Oh well. At least it is easy to clean! At lease the sucking up worked for him! hahaha :)

DILEMMA!

Blog or clean the toilets!? Hmmm....

David Cop-A-Feel or Kyle Korver?

VS

We went to Las Vegas this past weekend with some friends (no kids!) and thought that catching a show would be fun. So we either had the choice to go to a naughty hypnotist for $30.00 or to David Copperfield for $85.00 We thought that would should probably just spend the money and go to Mr. Cop-a-feel so we bucked up and went thinking it was going to be great since he has been around for YEARS and has done some pretty cool tricks. Well, let me tell you my friends, go to the naughty hypnotist!!! :) Bonnie and I fell asleep during the four minute video he showed during his show of him doing a trick probably 30 years ago. There must have been some budget cuts or something because it was not what we expected. The best part of the show was seeing Brent dance. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera to post it, so Bonnie if you have it on your camera, please e-mail it to me so I can post it! People thought that he was drunk. He was obviously, but he sure looked like he was. After the show we walked out and saw Kyle Korver? Heather informed me he plays on the Jazz and I wish we could have watched him perform, well nothing really. HE is very easy to look at and I'm sure I wouldn't have fallen asleep! We ended staying up until 4:30 AM and then waking up at 9:00 AM. (Thanks to Mike) It was a ton of fun and I don't think I have laughed that hard EVER! Thanks Brent for the laughs. If only I could have found a Diet Coke I could have grooved with you!!!

The "Orphanage"

On Wednesday May 21st, my family and I dropped my little bro off at the MTC. It honestly was 35 degrees up there. It went from 104 on Tuesday to 35 on Wednesday. He said he felt that he was being dropped off to prison or an orphanage. That made it all the more sad! He is going to Dnepropetovsk, Ukraine. That is approx. 6,100 miles away. He will be speaking Russian which means he will be in "prison" for 3 months! I hope he survives. Brent was in there for 3 weeks and about shot himself he hated it so bad. We got his first letter already and he seems to be doing alright! I can't imagine what he is going through though. I never knew what the MTC was like and my heck, it is horrible! They aren't joking when they say that missionaries go one way and the family goes the other. They even have signs that say "Family Exit, Missionary Exit." Luckily he was able to go in with one of his friends so he was a little comforted. I can't believe that parents willingly let their children go across the world at 19 years. It will be great and he will learn so much! Here are a few pictures of the blessed day. I don't know how to do the collages on here so you just get a long list of pictures! Sorry!!!

Look how tan he is compared to me?!
And that is what Russian looks like!

Main Street

I don't know if anyone has been to the Main Street water park, but if you haven't you should go. It is so cute and perfect for kids! They have the water that shoots out from the ground and then behind it there is a little wading area the kids can play in with little rocks to climb up and stuff. It is really cute! Plus you can go to Judds after and get their yummy breadsticks! :) Ahh, 6th grade memories!

Nasty A Fiesta Fun

This week Brent and I didn't see much of each other so we thought we would have a date night with the kiddos! Friday night we went to Samuri 21 for dinner and Kenna loved it. Brent not so much, but he was a good sport in going since we didn't get to go for Mothers Day. Brent has been dying to take Kenna on the bumper boats at Fiesta Fun so we headed there next. After $8.00 and 5 minutes later of going approx. 2 MPH on the water by themselves they were done. We had a coupon for a free softplay so off we went into the germ infested kids area. OK, I am still gagging at what I saw there. I will NEVER, repeat NEVER go back to Fiesta Fun with kids. We were sitting on a bench for about 10 minutes watching Makenna play when I noticed the employees looking behind the garbage cans. I was only hoping they weren't looking for something nasty. As of matter of fact, they were. Someone had blown chunks (I'm dry heaving as I type this) all over the garbage can and wall behind it. One of the poor boys that is probably paid $6.o0 had to clean it up. As he proceeded to clean it up, he was talking to us telling us that he has cleaned up worse and that the person must have missed the trash can. Well, they didn't. Because the kid forgot to look, and I happened to walk by the can, there was vomit all over the can as well. Therefore, I will NEVER go back knowing who knows what has happened in those slides and such. BLECH! Here are some pics of her having fun though.

DEBUTING!

This is the new DIEGO! Brent went to three different stores and finally found him on the top of a Play-Doh and purchased him. We had to cut off the bottom of the lid, but here he is. It didn't fool her. The first thing Makenna said when she woke up the next morning "Where's my other Diego!?" And then proceeded to tell us "He went down the toilet and is at the beach!" The terrible tragedy of Diego going down the toilet has benefited us tremendously! Since the accident, Makenna has not got out of bed once! We tell her if she gets out of her bed, then Diego will go in the potty! And BAM! Hasn't been out since! WAHOO! I now have my nights back to my TV :)

Happy late Mothers Day and Birthday Mom!!!

4 months and counting!

I have been slacking and haven't posted about the accomplishments Gavin has had since he has been four months old! I can't believe how fast time has been. Its crazy to think that he is actually awake part of the day now and sleeps most of the night! On April 25th, he rolled over for the very first time from his stomach to his back. He does it a lot now, but he hates being on his stomach so he cries every time he does it. He also is eating rice cereal at night and he actually doesn't mind it! Makenna asked to try it, so I let her have a small taste and she was dry heaving it was so disgusting. She was looking for a cup of water or something. I was laughing my butt off, but I felt bad for her at the same time because she never has done that before. She now tells me it is yucky every time I feed it to him. Back to Gav... he weighs a whole whoppin' 13 lbs and is 24" tall. That means he is in the 45% for both height and weight. He is "underweight" because he pukes everything up (as most of you saw at the park!) He smiles all of the time and is such a patient little boy with his sister. He rarely cries, even when she is "kissing" him (aka laying on his head) pulling his arms or feet, or making him talk (pinching his cheeks and saying "OH NO!") He also has the cutest giggle. He is a very ticklish baby and is still as bald as they come!!! He is getting a lot more fun and we love him!

Kenna's Thoughts

Kenna: "Mom, the Temple is awesome"
Mom: "Yes Kenna, it is awesome"
Kenna: "ROCK ON TEMPLE, ROCK ON!"
Need I say more?!

No more dessert!

At this point in the day (10:15 PM) I can no longer look at any sweet item. Can you believe it?! I finally don't want anything that is sugar loaded!!! I have seriously eaten myself sick. I can't even clean the pan out because I will vomit if I even look at it. It is driving me nuts that it is sitting there on my sink, but it will have to wait! This weekend I totally ruined all of my hard work at the gym. I think I ate 15 cookies yesterday (no joke). On top of that, I ate a jumbo bag of Peanut M&M's, strawberry shortcake (thanks Grandma it was great!), peach delight, two delicious mini cupcakes (at least they were mini!), a slice of Oreo pie, a spoonful of cookie dough, and a couple slices of french toast among another cookie or two. Are you now sick thinking of all that crap I just ingested!? I am even more sick from typing all of that. So as of now, I will not be eating anymore sugary stuff. I am swearing it off! If you see me eating it, rip it out of my hand and throw it away or eat it yourself! NO MORE TREATS FOR ME! Well OK... maybe until my food digests and then I will probably rethink this. I really need help. Do they have SNACKS Anonymous... or some major rehab?! I need an intervention!!!

Diego B. Martin

Our beloved friend, brother, cousin and animal rescuer has gone onto bigger and better water down the porcelain throne. Diego was born on March 23, 2008. He was born to Makenna in a green Easter egg which was found under the couch. He was approximately 1 1/2 inches tall and made of 100% plastic. He was instantly loved by his "momma" and went on many adventures with her. He was cooked in the oven and then eaten, went potty on the big girl potty, went diving in the bath tub, slept in a big purple bed and went on many road trips in her hand. He also loved to eat waffles, watch Dora, and dance to Aladdin. He is survived by Makenna, Dora (cousin), Boots (monkey) and Baby Jaguar. He is preceded in death by many goldfish, cockroaches, and other items that have followed the same path of the toilet. He will be missed by many. We love you Diego and hope to find a replacement Diego soon so Makenna can sleep again.

Tuesday Tell All!

"Making the decision to have a child is momentous.
It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking
around outside your body."
~Elizabeth Stone

So I am copying Nicole on this but I think its a great idea and gives me more to blab about! :) Lucky for all you readers! :) So it is a site that gives you ideas to write about and this weeks topic is on motherhood (go figure). Here is my take! :)

First experience as a Mom:
Bawling my eyes out, realizing that Brent and I had created a perfect human being and that she would be with us forever. I couldn't get over how perfect she was even with her long monkey toes! She had hair which was a huge surprise and was wide awake looking at me! It melted my heart and she still does every time I look at her.

Best Mom advice:
Enjoy every moment you have with them! Put the mop down, windex and dishes and focus on them and what they love. Or have them help you clean! Then you are bonding with them along with getting your house clean and teaching them responsibility!!! (if it were only that easy)

Things I learned from my Mom:
Yelling doesn't do any good! (I learned, but I still "raise my voice")I don't remember her yelling at us kids ever. Not that she didn't get mad or discipline, but she didn't yell. She barely raised her voice. She also taught me patience and not to worry about the small things that don't matter. They are little for just a short time!

Why I love being a Mom:
I get to see Makenna dance (turn in circles) to all her favorite "prince" songs.
I get to snuggle with Gavin and rub his bald little head
I get to be the one to comfort them
I understand what she is saying when no one else does
I can make a tummy ache go away by rubbing her belly.
I get to kiss it all better!
I have the two cutest kids ever!
EVERYTHING!

Things I NEVER did until I became a Mom:
Wiped snot with my hand and then wiped it on my pants
Sang out loud
Changed my outfit more than twice in a day
Watched Dora
Wiped other peoples butts
Took pictures like crazy!
Told bedtime stories

This isn't a tag but I'm going to make it one. I tag everyone on my list!!!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!

TRUTH! (sorry its a novel)

On Sunday during relief society the lesson was on "Liking Yourself". Someone made a comment about how people can put a front on and never really tell the truth about how their life is. I am one that does that. So I figured I would come out with the "truth" of the Martin household! Not that anyone really cares, but oh well! Don't read it if you don't want!!!

My life is honestly good. My kids are awesome and Brent is great! Brent and I do argue about the stupidest things, probably more than others, less than some. If he would just understand that I am always right we wouldn't have issuses. But that is what makes us work. He is a workaholic and his phone rings off the hook. It drives me NUTS most of the time, but oh well... at least he's with me when he's on it! I enjoy having two kids, but man it has been hard! It has gotten better the past month, but the first three months were crazy. Poor Makenna! She did so well with Gavin coming into the family, but this past month she is going through something all her own! I try to be patient with her, but I get frustrated so easily with her! She sits on Gavin, she grabs his arms and face, she screams, she is bossy, she isn't very nice to other kids and she doesn't stay in her bed at night. I get mad, and then I feel so dang bad because I know that she is only two and this is completely normal behavior! I'm tired of Gavin waking up in the middle of the night. I know this is also completely normal behavior as well, but why can't my babies miraculously sleep through the night at three months?! I wake up at 5:15 every morning to go to the gym to work off the rest of my baby gut and I HATE IT! I'm so frustrated because all it seems to do is get bigger! I guess I could stop eating cookies non stop... (yum, I love them and cupcakes). I am so grateful that Brent gets up with Gav between 5:30-6:00 so that I can go to the gym. He honestly is a great husband and he works well with my "issues." I get ornery late at night and he gets super hyper. I hate it because the grumpier I get, the more hyper he gets. You should see the two of us at 11:30 at night... it is crazy let me tell you. Brent literally is jumping on the bed, and I'm crying because I am so tired and irritated. It lasts about 10 minutes and then all is well and we both go to sleep. I worry about my whole family probably more than I should. I'm so sad that Tyler is leaving for two years and going across the world. I worry that he is going to be all alone and scared and not have Makenna there to cheer him up! He will do great in Ukraine and am so glad that he made the decision to go on a mission. We'll miss him, but he will be better there than here!

To wrap up my "sob story", I know that my issues are small and a lot more insignificant than others. I like my life! I have a healthy, happy family! I have a house! I get to stay home with my kids and enjoy the crying, screaming, being bossed around, and changing of diapers. My husband owns his own company and is finally content with his job! He is so fun to be around and is a great helper! I love him and all his quirks! We really enjoy spending time with each other and friends. Not family, just friends! haha... I love my kids more than words can describe. I could cry just thinking about them and how special they are to me. I love that Makenna twirls for 3 minutes straight while dancing to "A Whole New World" from Aladdin. I love that when Gavin wakes up for the final time in the morning, he is so happy and giggly. I love that Brent is a morning person so I don't have to be! I love that he is a hard worker so I don't have to be! OK... if anyone is still awake or still reading. I love that we are married for eternity and thanks to sunday school a few weeks ago, it sounds like I don't have to share him up in heaven (if I make it there) if we choose not to! WAHOO! OK, I'm done. Thank you for letting me vent. I love life!

Hunny!

A few days ago when Kenna was all glammed up in her usual outfit (PJ's with her magic crown, Cinderella heels, and purse) she came up to me, leaned over gave me a kiss and said "I love you too Hunny!" and proceeded to walk out the garage door! Random, but it made my WHOLE day!

HELP!

OK, so Makenna still won't stay in her bed and I am at my wits end. It takes me two hours to get her to sleep now. She is in and out of bed probably 100 times (no joke) So any of you parents out there have a solution to keeping your kid in bed, please post a comment!

Viva Las Vegas Baby!

My little bro is going on a mission on May 21st to Dnepliejflskf, Ukraine. Thats really not the name of the city, but thats pretty much what it looks like on paper. Anyway, so we thought we would make a little family trip down to Vegas to "celebrate" We hit a few of the coasters (more about the Big Shot later) and then went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. We did a little shopping and then came home! It was a blast and I am going to miss my little buddy! And yes, I know I look like the in-law of the family... but I can't help that I'm short and blond!

The "Hukill" Gang (my dad is taking picture)

Me, Bree (my sister), Natalie (sis-in-law), Mom

Everyone waiting to go up to the Stratosphere

Brent and I on top of the Stratosphere

My Dad and Tyler (little bro) on the X-Scream
(X-Scream is the roller coaster that hangs off of the Stratosphere)

I have the best picture of Brent on the Big Shot but I have to have it scanned because my scanner is broken right now. Stop by soon and you will see it... I am still laughing about it!

Blustery Days!

What the wind?! I'm tired of it, but at least today is less "breezy!"
